Hey, I’m Far — and I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome to our home, a 1949 classic Cape, lovingly known as our beloved fixer upper.

Why “beloved”? Because from the very beginning, before I’d even seen a single photo, I had this gut feeling — this house was meant for us. When it finally hit the market, we were the first to schedule a showing. I had just 30 minutes to walk through it on a rainy evening, but somehow, that was all I needed.

Sunroom with nautral light coming in, the leaves dancing on the ground. Toy storage unit with a small kids stool.

Yes, the house needed some major updates. Every room had to be renovated, but I could already see past the peeling wallpaper and dated fixtures. It checked every box on our wishlist. The bones were good. The energy was warm. This was a home with a story. A soul.

The previous owners had lived here for nearly 40 years. They raised their children within these walls, tended the garden, filled the space with memories and love. It’s a feeling you can’t quite explain, only feel — and what an honor it is for us to now raise our children here.

At the final walkthrough, the seller’s realtor gave me a heartfelt hug and said, “I knew the moment you pulled up at the showing — this was your home.” I still tear up just thinking about it. And every time I think about how the universe aligned itself, and we are exactly where we are meant to be. This home is a result of our dreams, never stop dreaming. But also, put those dreams into action!

This isn’t a flip. This isn’t a short-term stop. This is where we’re meant to grow, to live fully, to stay and be more present for ourselves and those we love.

Over the past ten years, we’ve moved five times — including twice in the past year alone. We’ve bought, sold, packed, and unpacked while raising very young kids. And every time, I knew it was temporary. But this is different. We can plant roots and finally feel settled.

5 Things I’ve Learned From Moving Twice in 12 Months

  1. Grace Over Perfection Makes All the Difference
Trying to make everything perfect during a move (especially with kids in tow) only leads to burnout. I’ve learned to give myself grace, embrace the mess, and celebrate small wins—like finally finding the silverware drawer or putting up one picture frame. Progress over perfection every time.
  2. Kids Are More Resilient Than We Realize
I worried about the disruption, but the truth is—kids adapt when they feel secure. We kept routines and made the transition fun, and that helped them settle in faster than I expected.
  3. Every Move Brings a New Chapter (and a New Perspective)
It wasn’t easy, but both moves taught us something new about how we want to live, what kind of space we thrive in, and how to design a life that feels more aligned with our values.
  4. Letting Go of the Timeline Can Be Freeing
I had this picture in my mind of when things would feel settled—by a certain season, holiday, or milestone. But moving twice reminded me that timelines can shift, and that’s okay. When I stopped forcing a deadline on “feeling settled,” I found more peace in the process and joy in the becoming.
  5. Home Is a Feeling—Not a Location
After two moves in one year, I’ve realized that home isn’t tied to a specific house. It’s the little rituals, the people you share it with, and the love you bring into a space. Whether we’re in a fixer-upper or a rental, I’ve learned how to create that “homey” feeling anywhere.
