Can you believe that some kids are already back in school—and it’s only August?! Summer still has almost two good months left! It feels a little surreal, but here we are. My kiddo heads back in just a couple of weeks and I’ll miss having her at home so much. But I decided to get ahead of the game and start shopping for school essentials.
Over the past few years, I’ve been gradually making the switch to more cotton in our wardrobes whenever I can. It’s definitely become my fabric of choice. It’s not perfect since so many clothes are blends, and finding outerwear in 100% cotton can feel impossible—but I try to be mindful and make swaps where it makes sense.

Why cotton?
Well, it just feels better—literally and figuratively. Our skin is our largest organ, and we’re wearing clothes on it all day long. Between sweat and constant contact, our bodies are absorbing what we wear. Also, when we’re washing clothes all the microplastics shed from synthetic fabrics… it’s something I’ve been trying to be a lot more mindful about.
Now, I used to think going the cotton route would break the bank, especially for growing kids. But surprisingly, I’ve been finding so many cute and affordable options—without sacrificing quality.

This week I bought some super cute cotton leggings and tees for my daughter, in fun designs. I even found a cardigan with the cutest cherry pattern! I loved it so much, I went back and ordered the horse print version too… couldn’t help myself!
I also spotted some cotton dresses that are just perfect for these in-between summer-to-fall days. A lot of the pieces I grabbed were super budget-friendly or already on sale, so I took the opportunity to stock up for the next couple of months.
Here are my favorite finds—perfect for young girls, better for their skin, and easy on the wallet.

These are all cotton and they don’t miss the mark on cuteness and fun patterns! I included a super cute strawberry lunch bag in here which is not cotton but I couldn’t resist! Shop the collection here!
